| Many people are woken up by irregular in
breathing and this results in restless sleep. The resulting symptoms
include morning headache, trouble concentrating, forgetfulness,
irritability, anxiety. These people may be affected with a disorder
called sleep apnea. |
| The statistics shows that 9% of middle-aged
males and 4% of middle-aged females are affected with this disorder in
US. 1/4 of people who snore are sleep apnea patients. In Japan,
about 1% of the population have sleep apnea. |
| PAP is a common medical appliance for treating
sleep apnea. The treatment is effective is up to 95%. It delivers a
stream of compressed air via a face mask and hose, splints the airway
(keeping it open under air pressure) so that unobstructed breathing
becomes possible, reducing and/or preventing apneas and hypopneas. The
fixed type is powered by wall socket, and the portable type can be
powered by wall socket as well as battery. |
| Portable PAP usually used Lead-Acid battery.
However, the size is too bulky to build into PAP, so the user has to
carry it separately. In addition, because of low energy density, the
user has to prepare additional batteries. On the other hand, LiCoO2
battery can't be used under high temperatures because its potential
explosion risk. The latest Aleees HIBS battery is high capacity, slim
and compact, and it is also functional under various circumstances
because of its high safety. |
