Due to energy shortages and the effect of the Kyoto Protocol, the high-tech and eco-friendly electric vehicle has become one of the most popular "green industries" in the world. An Electric vehicle is a vehicle propelled by electricity instead of a fuel engine. Common applications are e-bikes, e-scooters, HEVs, and BEVs. Except for HEV, these applications are pure electric-power systems, which produce zero emissions. If 50% of global annual production of lead-acid battery was adapted to electric vehicles, which include e-bikes, e-scooters, power wheelchairs and e-cars, it could provide the power for 380 million vehicles. However, lead-acid batteries feature low energy density (30Wh/kg), and low energy transfer efficiency (60%) as well. To drive heavy applications such as BEV takes big power, which means more lead-acid batteries are required. This is a vicious circle because of more wasted electricity. Due to safety concerns, however, there is no suitable substitute. Now, LiFePO4·zM'O batteries feature high safety, high energy density (130Wh/kg) and almost perfect energy transfer efficiency (95%). It is a great substitute for a lead-acid battery. Replacing lead-acid batteries with LFP batteries can reduce 85% of lead usage. This lead reduction can provide power for 323 million electric vehicles, and is equal to the capacity of 40 nuclear power plants |
