The batteries it is equipped with decide its runtime, as well as efficiency and useful lifetime. At present, most UPS are equipped with Lead-Acid batteries. The voltage and capacitance have to be maintained in a certain range while charging or discharging. Higher readings than that range may cause thermal runaway or loss of electrolyte, while lower readings may cause insufficient charge. Both of them shorten the battery durability, especially the former one. Although Lead-Acid batteries have been broadly accepted in various applications, and their cost is cheaper than Li-ion batteries, shouldn’t we be concerned about its efficiency, safety and pollution problems? |
